Drew Brees’ Retirement

(New Orleans, LA) Drew Brees’ is retiring from football after 20 years in the National Football League. 15 years to the day he signed with the New Orleans Saints. Brees was selected 33rd overall in the 2001 NFL Draft by the San Diego Chargers. Later being traded to the New Orelans Saints, where he would spend the rest of his professional career.

Drew Brees is one of the best to ever pay the game. Many people are saddened to watch a legendary quarterback walk away from the game.

Brees holds many NFL records. He’s won a Super Bowl and the Super Bowl most valuable player award.

“He is the definition of New Orleans” said Saints super fan, Aaron Oliver.

Brees took a team and city affected by Hurricane Katrina and gave them hope. The franchise had never seen the big game. They wanted a spark, someone who could lead the Saints all the way.

Clyde Edwards- Helaire, Kansas City Chiefs running back and Louisiana native said “I wish he would’ve gotten another ring.” “He really deserved it. He’s the goat.”

Will Clapp is a center for the Saints and played with Brees. Clapp said “It’s the greatest privilege of my life to have snapped the ball for Drew.” Clapp played for LSU and got picked up as a free agent by the Saints in 2018. “He’s done so much for the city and the state of Louisiana. He’s done so much for the game of football. “I wish him the best in his retirement and beyond.”

“Drew should really have won three more Super Bowls. He was cheated twice and let down another time.” Says Taylor Lockard, an avid Saints fan.

Brees will always be for New Orleans. He wants to make it a place that travelers, as well as residents get to enjoy the beauty and culture of the city.

He is really just a regular guy. He always brings his children to the park, driving around town. He will always be the city’s biggest icon.

Drew Brees left his mark on New Orleans. Setting a high standard of winning and effort and dedication. He was dedicated to his teammates and coaches always giving his best.

All his hard work has brought him to the top place of many NFL records. Being the most efficient passing quarterback in league history.

The Saints franchise and fans have enjoyed over 15 years of consistent excellence on and off the field with their starting quarterback, Drew Brees. When he came to New Orleans, fans backed him no matter what.

Brees wasn’t supposed to play again after his injury to his shoulder when he played for the Chargers. However, Sean Payton believed in Brees’ ability to bounce back and make the most of his situation in New Orleans.

The record proves they made the right decision.

The Saints faithful will miss their Number Nine.
